Biography of Austrian nobleman Don John, born in 1547, the illegitimate son of Emperor Charles V and husband of Mary, Queen of Scots. He is best known as the victorious commander of the forces of the Holy League at Lepanto in 1571, a battle which saved Italy from becoming a Turkish Pashalik.
